Chinese envoy hands over flood management plan for Bangladesh

Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Li Jiming on Wednesday formally handed over the flood management plan of Ganges, Brahmaputra and Jamuna Basin flood Management plan to the government of Bangladesh. The Chinese envoy handed over the survey based flood management plan carried out with Chinese grant at the Ministry of Water Resources conference room yesterday, reports BSS.

Speaking on the occasion, State Minister for Water Resources Zaheed Farooque said the continued support of China has expedited the development of Bangladesh and the friendly and cordial relationship between the two countries would be further strengthened in the coming days.

Deputy Minister AKM Enamul Haque Shameem said China is a time-tested friend of Bangladesh adding that the work for six projects signed earlier between the two countries will be implemented soon. Water Resources Secretary Kabir Bin Anwar was also present on the occasion. The flood management plan incorporates the mainstream of Jamuna, Padma, Ganges as well as Dudkumar, Dharla and Teesta rivers.
