China which is grappling to fight off new coronavirus infection ahead of lunar year holidays has urged countries to share information, if the virus is imported, for joint prevention and control. The virus has so far killed three people out of 198 infections in China and travelled to Thailand, Japan and South Korea.

Authorities in Bangladesh beefed up their security measures in the port with the introduction of airport screening measures. “Today we have started screening at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport for travelers from China,” Dr ASM Alamgir, Principal Scientific Officer of the government’s disease monitoring arm, IEDCR, told Bangladesh Post.

“Gradually we’ll spread this. Tomorrow we’ll introduce a form to the aircrafts so that we can track patients and give them proper treatment and take preventive measures”. The Chinese embassy in Dhaka said “If other countries have also found related suspected imported cases, we welcome the first time to inform China of the situation through official channels to promote joint prevention and control.”

“We will work together to respond to the epidemic and maintain regional and global health security.” “At present, Japan, Thailand, and South Korea have notified China of the confirmed cases of new corona-virus infection,” the embassy said. “China has maintained close communication and cooperation with these countries, and jointly to do a good job in the treatment and treatment of patients.”

Chinese President Xi Jinping sent his instructions to the health authorities and said the recent pneumonia epidemic of new coronavirus infection in Wuhan and other places in Hubei must be “paid great attention and efforts must be made to prevent and control them”. “At present, during the Spring Festival, there is a large-scale movement of personnel, and it is very important to do a good job in epidemic prevention and control.

“Party committees and governments at all levels and relevant departments must put the people's lives and health in the first place, formulate thorough plans, organize all parties to carry out prevention and control, take practical and effective measures, and resolutely curb the spread of the epidemic,” Xi Jinping said.

“We must do our best to treat patients, identify the causes of viral infection and transmission as soon as possible, strengthen case surveillance, and standardize the treatment process.” People travelling from the affected areas with fever, cough, breathlessness, and pneumonia are the suspects of the viral disease which has no specific treatment, Dr Alamgir said.
