China Harbour donates relief materials in Khulna

China Harbour Engineering Company Ltd. (CHEC) provided relief materials for distribution among 2,000 poor families affected badly by the ongoing pandemic in Khulna City Corporation area on Tuesday. 

Khulna City Corporation Mayor Talukder Abdul Khaleque received the relief materials from Md. Shahed Ramjan, chief coordinator of CHEC Bangladesh, at the former’s office on July 7. Relief materials include rice, lentil, potato, salt and soap.

“The pandemic has badly hit national economy, while low-income groups are the worst victims. Since the beginning of the pandemic we have been trying to support poor people living in different areas of Bangladesh. It is a part of our corporate social responsibility programme, which we hope to continue in the days ahead”, said Shahed Ramjan.

Earlier the company donated medical items to Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, foodstuffs and corona protection gears among poor people in different areas of the country including Mirsarai and Anowara Upazilas in Chattogram, Madaripur, Tangail and Bramhanbaria.

It is mentionable that CHEC has successfully completed Khulna water treatment plant, a project under Khulna WASA. During the project implementation the company undertook several social programmes with a view to improving the quality of life and health of the residents of the city corporation.
