Charuneedam celebrates 12th anniversary

Theatre and cultural organisation Charuneedam celebrated its 12th founding anniversary organising a programme held at National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on Thursday.

The programme featured staging of plays, felicitation ceremony and others.

Besides, the organisation also launched Charuneedam Acting Institute, which will work for spreading art and culture among the younger generation across the country.

Following which, the organisation felicitated four individuals for their contribution to country’s cultural arena namely music director Azad Rahman, poet Nirmalendu Goon, dancer and choreographer Minu Haque and thespian Sara Zaker and bestowed titles on them.

The organisation bestowed the Gitogain title on Azad Rahman, Katha Amritosharker title on Nirmalendu Goon, Nritya Labonno title on Minu Haque and Nattya Ratna title on Sara Zaker.

The organisation staged three short plays. Charuneedam members Rudra Sarkar and Tama acted in the play

Mile Post, which has been written and directed by Syed Ahmed. Marjia Akter and Salman Hasan staged the play Khuni, written and directed by Sifat Alam and Asiul Salam and Nusrat Jahan acted in the play Anubhuti, written and directed by Chameli Sinha.

Charuneedam Institute began its journey on September 15, 2007. Since its founding, the organisation has been working to promote cultural activities.

‘We want to promote cultural activities among the younger generation across the country. I hope we will do better in future,’ Habib Mahmud, secretary general of the organisation, told.
