Muggers killed a cattle trader at Katakhali area of Rajshahi city early Thursday and looted Tk 2.5 lakh.

The deceased was identified as Jarip Mridha, 36, son of Alal Mridha of Singra Upazila in Natore district.

Officer-in-Charge of Katakhali Police Station Zillur Rahman said Jarip along with his father and paternal uncle Mosharraf Hossain went to the cattle market at the area to buy cattle.

Around 12:30am, the trio boarded a truck at Shah Makhdum area to go to Singra without purchasing any cattle from the market.

At one stage, the miscreants tied up Jarip’s father and uncle with rope and hit him with a sharp weapon and took the money away. The man died on the spot.

The muggers later dumped the victims on the road.

A police patrol team found them and took them to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
