BSA stages Sichunaer Shukonya

Theatre troupe Theatron staged the play ‘Sichunaer Shukonya’ at National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on Thursday.

The play is an adaptation of German playwright Bertold Brecht’s ‘The Good Woman of Setzuan’. It has been translated by Mamun Haque and directed by Samrat Pramanik. ‘Sichunaer Shukonya’ revolves around socio-political anomalies in society.

The play starts with three goddesses arriving in a poor city named Sichuan. They start seeking shelter for spending the night but no one agrees to let them in. In the end a sex worker gives shelter to the goddesses. Pleases by the act of kindness, the goddesses give her some money.

She buys a shop with the money and starts providing  shelter for the homeless. She falls in love with a pilot named David and dreams of raising a family. However, the people start making false allegations against her to disrupt the marriage. They even drag her to court accusing her of committing murder.

Zinia Azad, Kowshik Biswas, Sadman Sayed, Bappi Amin, Tonmoy Biswas and others acted in the play.
