Former Brazil goalkeeper Júlio César has visited the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi 32 to pay respects to Bangladesh’s founding father.
He is in Dhaka at the invitation of the Bangladesh Football Federation ahead of the yearlong ‘Mujib Barsho’ celebration which will begin on March 17, the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. César spent an hour and visited all corners of the museum. Trustee of the Awami League’s research wing Center for Research and Information (CRI) Radwan Mujib Siddiq, son of Sheikh Rehana, guided him in the museum.
He also inquired about the history of the museum, the house where Bangabandhu was assassinated along with most of his family members on the fateful night of Aug 15, 1975.
His daughters Sheikh Hasina, current prime minister, and Sheikh Rehana were saved because they were abroad at that time.
César also signed the visitor’s book and said he was happy to be here at the museum. Radwan presented him a series of graphic novel on Bangabandhu.
