BPL second leg to start on Friday

The second leg of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) will get underway on Friday next after 53-day break, according to the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF). The first phase completed on March 7. The scheduled date was on April 9 but the countrywide lockdown hampered the situation.   

Reigning Champions Bashundhara Kings will take on Uttar Baridhara Club in the first encounter of the second leg of the BPL at the Shaheed Ahsan Ullah Master Stadium in Tongi at 3:45 pm on April 30.  

According to a draft schedule of BFF, the Gopibagh outfit Brothers Union and Sheikh Russel KC will lock horns while the third position in the points table Dhaka Abahani will face Bangladesh Police FC at the Bangabandhu National Stadium (BNS).

Mohammedan Sporting Club (MSC) will play against Arambagh Krira Sangha at the Shaheed Dhirendranath Datta Stadium in Cumilla in the day’s other match.

Kings remained unbeaten in the first leg, and secured 34 points from 12 outings. Now they are on top position, won 11 proceedings and shared the point in one game. Uttar Baridhara is in the 10th position who earned only 9 points from the same number of outings. They won only one match, lost five and draw six. 

Sheikh Russel KC, the Bengal Blues who is in the fifth in the points table with 20 points from 12 encounters with 6 wins and two draws, lost four lost while the Gopibagh outfit managed only five points from the same number of games. 

Six times champions Dhaka Abahani Limited, the Sky Blue Brigade leading the third position with 25 points from 12 games with seven win and draw four. The Sky Blue Brigade has a lot of chance to win the opening match in the second phase against Bangladesh Police. 

Meanwhile, MSC eager to win over the last position in the rank Arambagh Krira Sangha.It will be a vital match for both teams.
