Love sometimes gives heavenly happiness, sometimes gives hellish pain. This has been happening since the beginning of creation. Some people turn to crime like the torment of hell.
In Karimganj upazila of Kishoreganj district, an ingenious young man named Novel (22) stabbed a schoolgirl after she had refused a love proposal. Novel is the son of Faizul Islam of Patharkandi Singpor village in Nikli upazila. Injured Mitu Akhter (17) is a ninth class student of Niamatpur High School in Karimganj upazila.
It is known that Novel had been harassing Mitu Akhtar for several years. On Tuesday (August 11) at around 11.00 am, next to Niamatpur High School, Novel proposed to Mitu Akhter.
Mitu rejected his offer. After that, Novel made 8/9 stabs at Mitu with a sharp knife and injured her seriously. The locals rushed her to Karimganj Upazila Health Complex.
She was later admitted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment. Mitu's condition is critical now. Novel fled after the incident.
Then as per the direction of Police Super Mashrukur Rahman Khale, Additional Police Super Arniban Chowdhury and Karimganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mominul Islam carried out a continuous operation within 8 hours and arrested Novel. This arrest brought relief in the minds of the people.
Karimganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Mominul Islam said that after learning about the incident, the police started carrying out operation to arrest the accused Novel. Special operations were conducted to ensure the location of Novel through the use of information technology.
Additional Police Super Arniban Chowdhury said, "As soon as we heard about the brutal incident, we immediately visited the spot and with the help of information technology, we were able to arrest Novel in a short time.”
