Bourses register modest fall

Country’s premier bourse, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), on Monday witnessed a modest fall extending the downbeat of previous day as risk-averse investors continued their sell-off on selective issues, reports BSS.

The broad index, DSEX closed at 4385.54 points on Monday with a loss of 3.20 points or 0.07 percent.

Besides, among the two selective indices, Blue Chip index, DSE30 went down slightly by 0.88 points while Shariah index, DSES up by 3.85 points to settle at 1491.57 points and 1016.27 points respectively.

On the DSE trading floor, a total number of 107,516 trades were executed in today’s trading session with a trading volume of 120.88 million securities. 

Losers took a strong lead over gainers as out of 352 issues traded, 124 securities gained price while 166 declined and 63 remained unchanged.

The top 10 gainers were SK Trims, Orion Infusions, LafargeHolcim Bangladesh, Central Insurance, Genex Infosys, Oimax Electrode, Golden Harvest, Bangladesh General Insurance, Intraco Refueling and Orion Pharma.

LafargeHolcim Bangladesh topped the turnover chart followed by SK Trims,

Orion Infusion, Beacon Pharma, ADN Telecom, SS Steel, Oimax Electrode, Indo-

Bangla Pharma, Golden Harvest and BSC.

The top 10 losers were Metro Spinning, Samata Leather, AB Bank, Zaheen Tex,

Saiham Cotton, Family Tex, Zeal Bangla Sugar, Mithun Knitting, BIFC and

Tasrifa Industries.

On the other hand, port city bourse, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), also

closed at red extending the losing streak of previous day.

CSCX and CASPI declined by 15.85 points and 30.14 points to stand at

8114.52 points and 13381.46 points respectively.

At CSE, a total of 5,597,093 shares and mutual fund of 240 companies were

traded, of which 77 issues advanced while 118 declined and 45 issues remained

unchanged.
