Bourses extend nose-dive

Country’s both the bourses -Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) finished trading on Wednesday extending their losing streak for the third consecutive session amid ongoing coronavirus crisis, reports BSS.

At DSE, the broad index, DSEX closed at 3963.40 points on Wednesday with a loss of 6.17 points or 0.15 percent.

Besides, the two selective indices, Blue Chip index, DSE30 and Shariah index, DSES also went down by 1.99 points and 1.20 points to settle at 1328.50 points and 918.99 points respectively.

On the DSE trading floor, a total number of 13,138 trades were executed in today’s trading session with a trading volume of 22.43 million securities.

Market turnover, another crucial indicator, stood at Taka 1.52 billion which is bit lower than of previous day’s Taka 1.55 billion.

Loser took a lead over gainers as out of 312 issues traded, 16 securities gained price while 43 declined and 252 remained unchanged.

The market-cap of DSE also fell to Taka 3,103 billion, from Taka 3,106 billion in the previous session.

The top 10 gainers were Exim Bank First Mutual Fund, National Life Insurance, NCC Bank, Apex Footwear, Peoples Insurance, Silco Pharma, Lindebd, Matin Spinning, Summit Power and Renata.

Grameenphone topped the turnover chart followed by Beximco Pharma, Beximco Limited, Square Pharma, Al-Arafa Islami Bank, Exim Bank, Indo-Bangla Pharma, Orion Pharma, Islami Bank Bangladesh and Monno Ceramic.

The top 10 losers were Dulamia Cotton, Mercantile Bank, BD Wielding, Exim Bank, ACI Limited, Central Pharma, ICB Sonali Bank First Mutual Fund, Meghna Petroleum, Prime Insurance and Mercantile Insurance.

On the other hand, port city bourse, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed at red maintaining the losing streak of previous day.

CSCX and CASPI declined by 19.04 points and 29.80 points to stand at 6804.23 points and 11231.19 points respectively.

At CSE, a total of 1,836,034 shares and mutual fund of 127 companies were traded, of which 14 issues advanced while 32 declined and 81 issues remained unchanged.
