Bourses extend downbeat

Country’s premier bourse, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) ended extending the losing streak at the last day of the week as risk-avert investors continued their selling binge, reports BSS.
The broad index, DSEX closed at 4710.36 points on Thursday with a loss of 26.80 points or 0.56 percent.
Besides, the two selective indices, Blue Chip index, DSE30 and the Shariah index, DSES also went down by 8.80 points and 6.94 points to settle at 1638.24 points and 1080.91 points respectively.
On the DSE trading floor, a total number of 100,565 trades were executed in today’s trading session with a trading volume of 114.80 million securities.
Losers took a strong lead over the gainers as out of 345 issues traded, 132 securities gained price while 154 declined and 59 remained unchanged.
The top 10 gainers were National Feeds, Mozaffar Hossain Spinning, Al-haj Tex, Central Pharma, Yeakin Polymer, BD Lamps, National Tubes, Safko Spinning, Kattali Textile and Bengal Windsor.
Renata topped the turnover chart followed by National Tubes, Square Pharma, Fortune Shoes, Sonarbangla Insurance, Kattali Textile, Grameenphone, Standard Ceramics, Wata Chemical and Beacon Pharma. The top 10 losers were Khulna Printing and Packaging, Shyampur Sugar, Zahin Tex, Emerald Oil, National Tea, RSRM Steel, Shinepukur Ceramics, Sonargaon Textile, Sunlife Insurance and Prime Finance.
On the other hand, the port city bourse, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed at red maintaining the trend of the previous day.
CSCX and CASPI went down by 52.66 points and 89.33 points to stand at 8708.33 points and 14327.33 points respectively.
At CSE, a total of 38,184,410 shares and mutual fund of 240 companies were traded, of which 80 issues advanced while 133 declined and 27 issues remained unchanged.
