‘Booters have ability to do well’

Bangladesh national football team, who started their training sessions ahead of their biggest assignment, the SAFF Championship, had a closed-door session at the Bashundhara Kings Arenaon Monday.

President of the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF), Kazi Mohamemd Salahuddin believes Bangladesh have the ability to do something really good in the upcoming SAFF Championship, which kicks off in Bengaluru on June 21.

The BFF president visited the first practice session on Monday to inspire the national booters and briefed them after their day’s practices. 

Salahuddin, the living legend of the Bangaldesh football, when talking to the Bangladesh Post on Tuesday said that he justput acrosshis ideas and suggested them just to be courageous, to work hard and to play with the intencity of winning match. 

“What in past that the players don't go to the field with a winning mentality, which is what he wants to be changed.”

“Actually, I think right now they need support, I try to give them some mental assistance and to encourage them.” 

“I told them, to work hard, to play their usual game with heart and soul. To be confident and to think that they can do, they should play with mental strength. I believe they have the quality but they suffer with inferior complex,” said Salahuddin. 

“I told them to think ‘every game you play for your country is important, you are not weak, but as a team you are not determiond and can’t set your target and you will do well. You play with nervousness, but never do it, play with courage’.” 

Salahuddin also said that the players are fit and looked good that they are capable to play well. 

Salahuddin also talked to the head coach Javier Cabrera when he also adviced the coach to be keep cool when he would make the playing line up. 

“I told the coach to make sure his formation and what will be his starting line-up, if need, to take time to finalise the squad,” BFF Boss revealed. 

However, earlier a thirty-member preliminarily sqaud reported to the team manager Ameer Khan at ahotel in the city before to join the residential training camp.  

Bangladesh national team also scheduled to play a FIFA International Tier-1 Friendly with Cambodia on June 15, which is also a preparation match for SAFF and will fly for India on June 16. 

The 14th edition of the SAFF Championship 2023 will be held at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru from June 21 to July 4.

Might be this time it would be something difficult for Bangladesh team to ake their room in the last four when they been drawn in Group B Lebanon, two times champions Maldives and Bhutan.
