Bogura Tax zone’s collection exceeds target

Region of Taxes, Bogura zone, has realised more taxes than the target during the current fiscal year. According to the Tax zone, Bogura, under National Board of Revenue, during 2018-2019 fiscal year, the zone realised Taka 4,030 million( 403 crore) of taxes as against the target of Taka 3,940 million (394 crore) during the same period. The zone officials are hopeful, the amount of taxes as well as the number of tax-payers would further increase during the next year.

According to sources, Bogura Tax zone is comprised of Bogura, Joypurhat, Sirajganj and Gaibandha district. Earlier the zone was under Rajshahi division. During separation of the zone from Rajshahi, Bogura zone had 45,000 TIN (Tax Identification Number) holders but the number has been increased during the recent years.

Officials of Bogura Tax zone further informed, 28 highest taxpayers of the region, seven each from four districts, will be awarded through a function on November-13. Masudur Rahman Milon, Director of FBCCI and President of Bogura Chamber of Commerce and Industry has been selected as the highest tax payer of the region for the 9th consecutive years.

Habibur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner of Taxes, Bogura zone informed, Bogura Tax zone has realised more tax than the target during the current year. There are 150,000 TIN holders in the region. An Income Tax fair will be held from November 14 to 17 and he hoped, the number of TIN holders will be increased after the fair.

BCCI President and the highest tax payer for consecutive 9th time Mausdur Rahman Milon informed, starting his business in 1996 he has been paying taxes continuously since then. Including 2018-'19, he has so far paid Taka 262.4346 million (26 crore 24 lakh 34 thousand and 461) taxes during last 23-year. He further said, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was ruling the country with utmost honesty, sincerity and devotion and every one should pay tax to develop the country.
