A boatman was killed and another injured in a lightning strike while plying their boat on the river Jumana near Nakalia bazar at Nakalia union under Bera upazila in Pabna on Sunday evening.
The deceased was identified as Saiful Islam, 35, son of Late Soleman hailed from Noldanga upazila of the district. And the injured was identified as Md Eman Ali, 50, son of Rafiqullah hailed from Saatghosh para village under Puthia upazila in Rajshahi district.
According to other boatmen, Eman and Saiful were behind the boat while thunderbolt struck. Among them, Eman Ali fell from the boat into the river after lightening struck when Saiful was died on the spot. However, there were four boatman on the boat. They used to transport goods of various businessmen by boat on this Jamuna river.Shamsul Hauqe Sub-inspector of Bera Model Police station said we couldn't identified the missing person as there was huge flow on the river.
