Awami League Joint General Secretary and Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud said, 'BNP's policy of saying no to everything needs to end. Say no where you need to say no. But saying no to everything and always playing conflict politics hinders the development progress of the country, which BNP is doing. I hope BNP will free itself from conflict politics and politics of not saying.

The Information Minister said, 'BNP Secretary General Fakhrul said today that he will join the movement with like-minded parties. A few days ago he said that they are in agitation, and now they are saying that they will come down - now it is difficult to understand which is correct. For the last 13 and a half years, we have been hearing that they will start a movement. And their movement means throwing petrol bombs, vandalizing cars and horses, fighting among themselves, attacking the police. If they are done this time, the people will resist them and Bangladesh Awami League will be on the side of the people.

He said this in response to a question from journalists during the chief guest's speech at the annual general meeting organized by Bangladesh Press Institute-PIB auditorium in the capital on Tuesday afternoon. Bangladesh Awami League Advisory Board and Press Council member and Dainik Prabhat Editor Mozaffar Hossain Paltu presided over by Press Council Chairman Justice Nizamul Haque and Secretary Md Shah Alam, Director General of Department of Mass Communication Md Jasim Uddin, Bangladesh Press Council President Mohammad Shah Jalal, General Secretary MG Kibria Chowdhury, Joint General Secretary Sheikh Manjur Bari Manju addressed the meeting.

Minister Hasan Mahmud said to the Press Council, "Bangladesh has 12,500 newspapers, but if we look at West Bengal, we see that there are not so many newspapers there." Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is newspaper-friendly, journalist-friendly, that is why this has become possible. But the sad fact is that many newspapers have declarations in the paper but they are not published regularly, they are published on the day they get the advertisement. The editor of many newspapers is the reporter. In many newspapers, it is seen that journalists are employed but they are not paid, it is said that you collect your salary.'

The information minister said that the government has identified all the newspapers which are not published regularly, and the journalists and publishers also had a demand for irregularities in the publication of the newspapers so as not to be defamed in the media. In view of that, more than four hundred newspapers have already been identified, out of which action has been taken against two hundred newspapers, but if anyone wants to be corrected, that opportunity will be there.

Hasan Mahmud said regarding the crores of paper to be printed in newspapers on national days and special days of various ministries, you know the prevailing global situation, you also know about the allocation limit of the finance ministry. Some big newspapers also have outstanding bills of Tk 10-12 crores. Of course, you will definitely get the government bill today or tomorrow. But there is no chance to give crores arbitrarily like before.

The Information Minister said that the work of the media is not only to provide news to the people, but also to guide the society and the nation and move it forward. And to move the society forward, people have to dream. If man does not dream, if he only sees despair, if he has no hope, he cannot advance. If newspapers print good news well then the nation will have dreams and hope. The country's success, the story of the country's transformation, what the world is saying, what the World Bank, the IMF, the United Nations are saying, if we tell people correctly, people will be hopeful and dream. There should be criticism in society, criticism should be of those in charge, but at the same time there should be appreciation of good deeds.
