BLAST worker gets bail in defamation case

BLAST worker Farzana Akhter was granted bail by Tamanna Farah, Senior Judicial Magistrate at Cox's Bazar when Farzana surrendered to the court on January-14 noon in the sensational Taka 100 crore defamation case filed against her on the allegation of filing of the rape case against BGB members at Damdamia Checkpost of BGB in Cox's Bazar.

After a long hearing of both sides-BGB and the BLAST lawyers, the court granted Fazana the bail. 

Abdus Shukur, Lawer of Farzana Akhter informed,' Farzana is the victim of torture and the court granted her the bail after considering the issue'. He hoped Farzana will be acquitted from the charge at the end of the case.

Advocate Sajjadul Karim, pleader of BGB informed, ' The court can grant anyone bail but that does not mean the case has been finished. She will be proved guilty in the court'. 

It is learnt, on October-8, 2020 members of Damdamia Chackpost of BGB-2 Battalion searched the autorickshaw passenger BLAST NGO worker Fazrana. In the incident, Farzana brought an allegation of rape against her by a BGB member.

Claiming the allegation of rape false, BGB Naik Subdar Mohammad Ali Mollah filed a defamation case of Taka 100 crore under section 500 against the complainant. The court directed the police to investigate the case. Later, Officer-in-charge ( Operation ) of Taknaf police station submitted the charge sheet of the case where no clue of rape was found. After receiving the investigation report on November-22, the court issued the summon against the accused.
