Bir Shrestha Nur Mohammad’s birth anniv observed in Narail

The 85th birth anniversary of Bir Shrestha Nur Mohammad Sheikh was observed at Nur Mohammad Nagar (former name Mohishkhola) under Chandibarpur union in Narail sadar upazila in Narail on Friday in a befitting manner.

The Bir Shrestha Nur Mohammad Sheikh trust and district administration were organiesd various programmes to mark the occasion.

The days programmes were began with the recitation from the Quran.Then a rally,Guard of honour, Quiz competitions on nation father of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Muktijuddho-O-Bangladesh and Bir Shrestha Nur Mohammad Sheikh, discussion and saying prayers were held in the Nur Mohammad Sheikh Memorial Museum and Library auditorium at Nur Mohammad Nagar on the day.

Narail Deputy Commissioner  Muhammad Habibur Rahman who is also the president of  Nur Mohammad Sheikh Trust,was attended the programmes as chief guest while Police Super Prabir Kumar Roy PPM,Narail Municipality Mayor Anjuman Ara, sadar upazila nirbahi officer Salma Selim, Sadar thana OC Md.Elias Hossain, freedom fighter Advocate SA Matin, Md.Saifur Rahman Hilu,Zila Parishad Members Advocate Raushan Ara Kabir Lily, Naznin Sultana Rozy  and  Jatio Mohila Sangstha Chairman Salma Rahman Kabita were present as special guests in the occasion. The Trust’s member secretary Chandibarpur UP chairman Md.Azizur Rahman Bhuyan was presided over the function.

Nur Mohammad born on February 26 of 1936 at Mahiskhola village in Narail sadar upazila.He joined then East Pakistan Rifles (EPR),which is now Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB),on March 14,1959.He later joined the independence war in 1971.He was killed on September 5, 1971 at Goalhati in Jashore by the then Pakistan army.
