Biman to operate 16 extra flights to bring back workers from KL

Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry today directed Biman Bangladesh Airlines to operate 16 extra flights to Kuala Lumpur for bringing back stagnated amnesty-granted Bangladeshi workers from Malaysia, reports BSS.

The decision was taken as per the request of expatriates welfare ministry over arranging extra flights to bring several thousand Bangladeshi migrant workers who got amnesty under “Back-for-Good” from the Malaysian government. The amnesty for the workers will end on December 31 next while the illegal migrant workers are stagnated in Malaysia due to scarcity as well as high fare of air tickets.

Biman will operate the additional 16 flights till December 31 by its Boeing 737 and Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, a Civil aviation ministry’s press release said. Presently, the national flag carrier operates weekly 10 flights on the Dhaka-Kuala Lumpur-Dhaka route.

State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism M Mahbub Ali said the national flag carrier, Biman has the accountability to serve the countrymen. “Biman will operate the extra flight from its responsibility of serving greater inertest of the country and its people,” the release said quoted ALi.
