BIDA to promote 375 successful entrepreneurs in all districts

Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) will provide cost-free training and supports to 375 youth entrepreneurs in every district to enhance their skill in management and running business and commerce.

The BIDA at the Prime Minister’s Office will provide training to entrepreneurs under its “Entrepreneurship and Skill Development Project

(ESDP)’ as part of the ‘Flourishing Investment’ programme, one of the 10 special initiatives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Officials disclosed the information at launching function of a week- long divisional level campaign for free registration of interested youth entrepreneurs on Bangabandhu Square premises in Rangpur, reports BSS. Additional Divisional Commissioner (General) Md Zakir Hossain launched the campaign by releasing balloons after placing wreaths at the Mural of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as the chief guest.

On the occasion, a brief discussion was also held there before bringing out of a motorcycle road-show on the city streets.

Kumar Adhikari, its Deputy Director Mohammad Zillur Rahman Khan and Trainer of the ESDP for Rangpur Md Moniruzzaman also spoke.

Sunil Kumar Adhikari said BIDA is launching month-long training courses for interested youth entrepreneurs after their cost-free registrations by August 31 next at all district headquarters.

“Twenty-five registered youth entrepreneurs will be provided the month- long training in every batch to produce 24,000 skilled entrepreneurs in 15 batches in next 15 months across the country,” Adhikari said.

On successful completion of training, entrepreneurs would earn knowledge on process of launching entrepreneurship and registration, taxes and VAT, export-import, management skill, opening of bank accounts and LC, loan, insurance and investment planning.

“The BIDA will provide entrepreneurs with facilities and one stop services on environmental certificates, quality control of products, accuracy in weight and measurements, suppliers and linkage and other legal aspects,” he said.

Besides, BIDA will provide counseling to entrepreneurs and assistance for supplying primary and middle layer raw materials to multinational and international manufacturing industries having high level of modern technologies, Adhikari added.

Terming the BIDA initiatives at district levels as very much time- befitting steps, the chief guest hoped that a newer dimension and positive trend would be added to the national economy on successful implementation of  the ESDP.

“By getting training, entrepreneurs will become proficient in managing and running business activities contributing to creating self-employment, creation of new business ventures and reduction of unemployment,” he added.
