BIBM holds research workshop on Transferable LC

Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management (BIBM) organised a research workshop on “Addressing Challenges of Transferable LC in Bangladesh”  on Wednesday at BIBM conference room, Mirpur in the capital. S.M. Moniruzzaman, Chairman of BIBM Executive Committee and Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank attended the workshop as chief guest with Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman, Director General of BIBM in the chair.

While addressing, Deputy Governor said, Garments buying houses are playing a vital role for the significant contribution of Bangladesh to the world’s apparel market. 

"The government has  issued a notification on   Buying House Rule aiming to bring strict discipline so that accountability of buying houses is ensured" he added. 

A paper titled “Addressing Challenges of Transferable LC in Bangladesh” was presented in the research workshop by Md. Alamgir,   Associate Professor of BIBM  on behalf of research the team.

 Other members of the research team are Tofayel Ahmed, Assistant Professor of BIBM; Mohammad Anisur Rahman, Deputy General Manager of Bangladesh Bank; Md. Mahmudur Rahman, Executive Vice President of Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited; A.T.M. Nesarul Hoque, Vice President of Mutual Trust Bank Limited. Barkat-e-Khuda, Dr.Muzaffer Ahmed Chair Professor of BIBM & Former  Professor of Dhaka University;  Helal Ahmed Chowdhury, Supernumerary Professor of BIBM & Former Managing Director of Pubali Bank Limited; Yasin Ali, Former Supernumerary Professor of BIBM; Dr. Shah Md. Ahsan Habib, Professor & Director (Training) of BIBM;  Mohammad Abu Jafar, Deputy Managing Director of Dhaka Bank Limited; attended the workshop among others.
