Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has taken some coordinated steps, including launching an awareness campaign and creating employments for the frontier people, to stop killing and trespassing in the Sylhet frontier areas, reports BSS.

Along with public awareness programmes and patrolling, the BGB has strengthened the following measures to stop the trespassing, said a BGB press release on Sunday.

The steps are:

A Undertaking massive public awareness programmes involving all concerned, including local administrations, police and public representatives.

B) Sending protest letters to Indian Border Security Force (BSF) condemning the killing of Bangladeshi nationals in the border and undertaking necessary measures and asking the BSF for bringing under trial the Khasia citizens responsible for killings.

C) Strengthening measurers to create employments for the frontier people to discourage them from trespassing, involving local administrations, police, public representatives and non-government organizations (NGOs).

Underscoring the need for keeping the frontier people active in economic activities to overcome the  crisis triggered by the global pandemic coronavirus, the press release said a process is underway for selecting entrepreneurs under the ‘Alokito Simanto’ project to make the poor frontier people self-reliant under the BGB Sylhet Sector, marking the birth centenary celebration of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
