Bede people get relief from DC

Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Jhalakathi and the administration officials are delivering food items to help low-income people amid coronavirus spread. DC Md Johor Ali handed over food items to the members of 70 family members of the unemployed Bede community (river gypsies) at Krishnakathi and College Mor area in Jhalakathi town on Tuesday night. 

Besides, Upazila Nirbahi Officers of four upazilas of the district are also delivering food items to the unemployed and low-income people in different areas.

The people of the Bede community were happy to receive foods and at the sudden visit of the Deputy Commissioner at night. Mohammad Hasan, Executive Magistrate of DC office, was present during the distribution.

Md. Johor Ali said the low income people have become unemployed due to the effects of coronavirus. “We started distributing these food items to the poor people on behalf of the government and this program will continue,” he said.
