BCG, Bidyananda Foundation distribute relief among destitute

Food items including rice, pulses, flour, gram and salt were distributed among 550 helpless and destitute families in Chakaria, Ramu, Ukhia and Teknaf upazilas of Cox's Bazar district under the supervision of Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) East Zone and Bidyananda Foundation on Wednesday.

Lt. Commander Amirul Haque, media officer at the Bangladesh Coast Guard headquarters, made the announcement on Thursday.

He said since its inception, Bangladesh Coast Guard has come forward to meet various needs of the people of the coastal areas. Currently, Bangladesh Coast Guard and Bidyananda Foundation have come forward to help the unemployed destitute people of the coastal area as they have lost their jobs amid this corona situation.

Following this, in collaboration with Bidyananda Foundation, Station Maheshkhali, Station Inani, Station Himchhari and Outpost Baharchhara under the management of Bangladesh Coast Guard East Zone have distributed the food items among destitute at various places across the district.

Station Commander Teknaf Lt. Commander Mir Imran Ur Rashid and local people's representatives were present on the occasion.

In addition, from March 31, 2021 till April 22, under the management of bidyananda Foundation, Bangladesh Coast Guard has distributed relief to a total of one thousand five hundred and fifty poor and destitute families in different coastal areas of the country.

Moreover, Bangladesh Coast Guard continues to distribute relief to the poor and needy families in other coastal areas under the management of Bidyananda Foundation.

He further said that besides maintaining law and order, curbing robberies and ensuring public safety in the areas under the jurisdiction of Bangladesh Coast Guard, this continuity of cooperation between the unemployed and the destitute in the coastal areas has continued and will continue in the future as well.
