BCCCI to collaborate with BEZA for branding Bangladesh, boosting Chinese FDI in EZs

With an aim to further enhance Chinese investment in Bangladesh a MoU was signed on Wednesday between Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA) and Bangladesh China Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BCCCI) in a simple ceremony at BEZA office, Agargaon in the capital.

Executive Chairman of BEZA Shaikh Yusuf Harun presided over the ceremony.  

The MoU was signed between Md. Moniruzzaman, General Manager, Investment Promotion of BEZA and Al Mamun Mridha, the Secretary General of BCCCI on behalf of their respective organizations in presence of BCCCI Senior Vice President Brig. Gen. Shah Md. Sultan Uddin Iqbal, BP (Retd) and other high officials of both BEZA and BCCCI. 

BCCCI and BEZA will act in close cooperation to enhance investment from China through holding joint consultation meetings, investment dialogues, conferences, round table conferences and by holding exhibitions jointly.  

In his speech on the occasion of MOU signing, the BEZA Chairman said that BEZA and BCCCI have already been working together on issues relating to enhance private Chinese investment and that China being the largest development partner of Bangladesh has been investing in various undertakings. 

Attaching specific significance among other areas to investment in special tourism zones like Sablong, Sonadia and Naaf River, the BEZA Executive Chairman urged upon all concerned to explore investment potentials in such innovative sectors. 

Al Mamun Mridha, the Secretary General of BCCCI in his speech noted that this day in particular is a memorable day  for BCCCI as from today BCCCI and BEZA would work more close together as investment partners, which would focus on private Chinese investment in Bangladesh. 

He said, Chinese investment keeps on the increase and all 700 members of BCCCI are working for attaining this objective. 

He said, we should spare no stone unturned to ensure the protection of both the investment and the investors.

The meeting was attended by high officials of both BEZA and BCCCI, including the BCCCI Senior Vice President Brig. Gen. Shah Md. Sultan Uddin Iqbal, BP (Retd), Badrul Alam Khan, Vice President, Nizamuddin Chowdhury, Vice President, Md. Faizul Alam, Joint Secretary General,  Li Xiao, Director,  Khondaker Atiqur Rahman, Director , Haroon Ur Rashid, Director, Zakir Uddin Ahmed, Director and Md. Abu Taher, Office  Secretary, BCCCI.
