Bangladesh Cricket Board on Saturday opted to break their own bio-bubble that they had initiated from September 21 as they announced a three-day family break for the cricketers in order to keep them mentally fresh, report agencies.

BCB had formed a 27-member party for a one-week residential camp from September 20 ahead of the tour of Sri Lanka as part of the preparation for the proposed three-match Test series that was scheduled to start from October 23 with the tourists expected to leave on September 27.

However, BCB failed to work according to their plan and cancelled the chartered flight that was expected to take the cricketers to Sri Lanka as they were reluctant to complete the 14-day mandatory quarantine in the island. BCB chief physician Debashish Chowdhury admitted to Cricbuzz, on Saturday, that letting the cricketers come out from their hotel implies that the present bio bubble is broken but added that they opted for this option considering the mental state of the cricketers.

Debashish said that they have time to start from scratch, which includes new dates for Covid-19 testing.

''We have to think about the mental state of our cricketers as they were really bogged down staying inside the bio-bubble for the first time in their life. "It's true that the existing bio-bubble is broken but we can always start a new bio bubble upon their return back to the hotel from their respective homes.

"We have to do fresh testing of Covid-19 as the previous tests will not be considered due to a long duration between each test,'' he said adding that they did not complete the last COVID-19 test that was expected to be completed 72 hours before their departure.
