Bank officer, 2 daughters killed in Ctg road mishap

A Bangladesh bank official and his two daughters killed as a lorry crushed their private car at Sitakundu on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway on Saturday morning.

The deceased were identified as Bangladesh Bank Joint Director Saifuzzaman Mintu, 45, his daughters Ashra Anam Khanm, 14, and Tanim Zaman Khan, 12.

His wife Kanika Akhter, 35, and 10-year-old son Montu were critically injured in the accident. Chittagong Medical College Hospital police outpost in-charge Zahirul Haque Bhuiyan confirmed the report saying that they were returning to their Mirpur residence in Dhaka from Chattogram.

He said a covered van hit their private car at Fouzdarhat Bandar Road Intersection on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway at 7:30am, leaving two daughters dead on the spot and three others injured. Later, locals rescued the injured and taken to Chattogram Medical College and Hospital where Saifuzza­man succumbed to his injuries at around 11:30am, Zahirul Haque added.
