Bank Asia donates cattle to victims of cyclone Bulbul

Bank Asia Limited, a leading commercial bank recently distributed cattle, blanket & cash money to cyclone “Bulbul” affected southern regions of Bangladesh under “Manobotar Bondhon”– a Bank Asia initiative where all the employees of the bank donated a day’s salary as charity.  The project was initiated as a part of the bank’s month-long 20th anniversary celebration campaign.

Around 100 families from the “Bulbul” affected districts of Satkhira, Barguna & Patuakhali were aided with the charities at ‘Tiger Point’ of Shyamnagar Upazila of Satkhira district on January 11, 2020. In this one-of-a-kind initiative, the 100 cattle distributed to the cyclone survivors were aimed at regaining their livelihood and recover the losses occurred by the catastrophe. 

“In Bank Asia, we work towards a poverty-free Bangladesh by reaching the unreached. We truly believe in working for a better tomorrow and the celebration of 20 years would be incomplete without Manobotar Bondhon project”, said Mr. Mohammad Borhanuddin, Deputy Managing Diector & Chief Operating Officer of Bank Asia Ltd. He also highlighted Bank Asia’s contribution in country’s Financial Inclusion and how the bank is helping to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

S.M. Ataul Haque Dolon, Chairman of Shyamnagar Upazila, inaugurated the event as a chief guest. Sarder Akhter Hamed, Head of Channel Banking & Senior Executive Vice President, Tahmidur Rashid, Head of Credit Risk Management & Executive Vice President, Jakir Hossain Bhuiyain, Head of Financial Inclusion Department & other senior officials of the bank were present at the program.
