‘Bangladeshi workers contributing to many sectors of Maldives’

A meeting was held between Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Imran Ahmed and Maldivian Vice President Faisal Naseem. 

The meeting was held on Tuesday morning at InterContinental Hotel, Dhaka in a very cordial and friendly atmosphere.

The Vice President of Maldives said that Maldives and Bangladesh have almost one and the same culture. 

“The two countries have maintained fraternal relations since time immemorial. Bangladeshi workers are making significant contributions in various sectors of the Maldives,” he said.  

Appreciating the various programmes adopted for skills development in Bangladesh, he expressed confidence in receiving cooperation for the development of Maldivian youths through technical education.

Expressing gratitude to the Maldivian government for vaccinating all Bangladeshi workers in the Maldives, Minister for Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment said Bangladeshi government is committed to ensure that Bangladeshi workers stay systematically in all destination countries, including the Maldives.

They also discussed the labour market situation in the Maldives, Bangladeshi workers and the friendly relations between the two countries.

Higher Education Minister Dr Ibrahim Hassan and Health Minister Ahmed Nasim of Maldives, Secretary of the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Ahmed Munirush Salehin, Foreign Secretary of Maldives Abdul Gafur Mohammad, Maldives High Commissioner to Bangladesh Shiruzimath Sameer, Director General of Wage Earners Welfare Board Md Hamidur Rahman and Director General of Bureau of Manpower Employment and Training Md Shahidul Alam were present there.
