A joint research institute with Chinese Huazhong Agricultural University has been launched at Rajshahi University (RU) here on Saturday, reports BSS. RU Vice-chancellor Prof Abdus Sobhan accompanied by the visiting vice-president of Huazhong Agricultural University Yeao Zinglin inaugurated the ‘Sino-Bangladesh Bio-industrial Research Institute’ at RU’s Dr Wazed Mian Academic Building. RU Pro-vice-chancellors Prof Ananda Kumar Saha and Prof Chowdhury Jakaria, Treasurer Prof Mustafizur Rahman Al Arif, Head of the institute Implementation Committee Prof Monzur Hossain and all faculty deans were present on the occasion.
Earlier, the RU administration held a bilateral meeting with the six-member visiting team. Prof Monzur Hossain gave an overview of the institute while presenting his concept paper. He said the joint research institute will open up a new dimension in the field of research and development in the region.
