State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Md Zakir Hossain said mid-day meal would meet the nutritional status of unprivileged children, reports BSS.

`Today’s children are tomorrow’s future. In order to build a prosperous nation our government has highlighted the nutritional needs of children. It can have a life time effect if a child is deprived of nutritious food during his or her early age. To build a prosperous country, Bangladesh needs physically and mentally healthy generations…..’ Zakir added.

He made the comments on Saturday while inaugurating the selection of beneficiaries of the care project in the Rowmari Upazila of Kurigram district. The project will be implemented by the department of local government, said the release. Jakir said that the draft of National School Meal Policy 2019 was already approved to ensure nutritional needs, increase their school attendance and reduce dropout rates. Once implemented fully, children will feel better, physically and mentally. Among others, project officials were also present at the event.
