Bangladesh Group Theatre Day- 2019 was observed with the slogan ‘Culture against depravity’ to mark the 39th anniversary of Bangladesh Group Theatre Federation (BGTF).
Recognized as 'Group Theatre Day', BGTF organizes a special event every year on November 29th. Professor Abdus Selim addressed the memorial speech titled ‘Practice of and future of group theatre’ at the Jatiya Natyashala seminar room at 11 am on the occasion.
At 3 pm, a cultural protest program was organized at Nandan Mancha of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy under the title 'Culture against depravity’. Professor Emeritus Anisuzzaman was present as the chief guest at the Group Theatre Day discussion at 4 pm.
Playwrights Ramendu Majumder, Ataur Rahman, Mamunur Rashid and Nasiruddin Yousuf Bachchu were present as special guests. Also present were members of BGTF and the playwrights and artistes of theatre groups. The Secretary General of the Federation, Kamal Bayazid gave the welcome speech.
The programme was presided over by the BGTF chairman playwright Liaquat Ali Lucky. The event concluded with a procession and stage performances by Baul musicians.
