Bangladesh emerge hat-trick champions of Bangabandhu int’l Cup Kabaddi

Bangladesh emerged the hat-trick champions of the Bangabandhu Cup International Kabaddi 2023 outplaying the Chinese Taipei in the final on Tuesday.

Held at the Shaheed Nur Hossain National Volleyball Stadium, Bangladesh earned the feat of hat-trick champions dominating over Chinese Taipei when they won the final by 42-28 point with leading the first half by 20-14.

Bangladesh, though had to face some challenges from the Chinese Taipei at the early stage with the visitors were leading by 10-9 and Bangladesh coming from behind levelled it 10-10, after that the hosts did not look back and led the first half by 20-14 and finished on 42-28.   

Meanwhile, Bangladesh won the trophy of the inaugural and the second edition of Bangabandhu Cup defeating Kenya in the final of the both occasions.

The third edition of the Bangabandhu Cup International Kabaddi was organized with 12 countries including the hosts Bangladesh when, apart from Asia, teams from Latin America, Africa and Europe participated in the tournament.

Tuhin Tarafdar, captain of Bangladesh team adjudged as the best player of the final and as well as the best catcher of the tournament.

Miaznur Rahman, one of the key players of the Bangladesh team was adjudged the best player of the tournament and received the prize of the best raider of the tournament.

Bangladesh Kabaddi team right after making room in the final, confirmed their qualification to play in the World Cup Kabaddi.

Zahid Ahsan Russel, State Minister for Youth and Sports distributed prizes among the winners in the final as the chief guest when Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun, president of the Bangladesh Kabaddi Federation (BKF) and the IGP of Bangladesh also distributed prizes among the runners up team.

Meanwhile, the president of the World Kabaddi Federation Sattyam Shivom Munishwami, president of the Asian Kbaddi Federation Mohammed Sarwar, DIG of Bangaldesh Police Habibur Rahman and general secretary of the BKF Gazi Mozammel Haque ADIG of Police   were also present among others in the final and the prize giving ceremony.
