Bangladesh a successful name in IT: Jabbar

Bangladesh is a successful name in Information Technology (IT) among the Commonwealth countries in the world, said Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar on Monday, report agencies.

Jabbar made the remarks while addressing the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation’s (CTO) 59th international council meeting and annual forum at a city hotel. ‘Bangladesh has been working with top priority to face the challenges of the fourth industrial revolution, cyber security and spectrum management for 5G,’ he said.

BTRC Chairman Md Jahurul Haque said Bangladesh can showcase its prospects in technology as well as strengthen its relations with other countries through this conference. Chairman of the Standing Committee on Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology AKM Rahmatullah, Secretary, Posts and Telecommunications Division Ashok Kumar Biswas, Chairman of CTO, Fijian Attorney General and Minister for Economy, Civil Service and Communications of the country Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum, Deputy Secretary General of International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Malcom Johnson and acting Secretary General of CTO Gisa Fuatai Purcell spoke on the occasion.

This edition of the CTO Forum will focus on broadband planning for digital transformation, changed nature of global service fund, over top service, spectrum neutrality and its impact, cyber security, data protection policy, block chain and global facilities, spectrum management, young generation in information technology and a few other issues. Dignitaries and IT experts from 53 countries are participating in the five-day conference, which will be concluded on October 4.
