‘Bangamata dedicated her life to the cause of the country’

Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Md Shahab Uddin said that Bangamata Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib dedicated her whole life for the freedom and development of Bangladesh.  

Along with Bangabandhu, Bangmata also dreamed of the independence of the country, the dream of building a golden Bengal free from hunger and poverty.  She was not only Bangabandhu's wife, but also a fellow warrior and an inspiration.  This self-sacrificing woman took all the responsibilities of the family on her shoulders and gave Bangabandhu opportunities to focus on the nation building.  Not only that, he gave constructive advice to Bangabandhu in decision-making in various difficult times of politics.  This brave warrior with human dignity, struggler and protester gave strength, courage and enthusiasm to the people to stand against the ruling group as a suitable life partner of Bangabandhu.

The environment minister said these things while addressing the chief guest at a discussion and prayer meeting organized by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change on the occasion of the 92nd birth anniversary of Bangamata Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib.  Under the chairmanship of Ministry Secretary Dr. Farhina Ahmed, Deputy Minister Habibun Nahar spoke as a special guest at the event.  Additional Secretary of the Ministry Sanjay Kumar Bhowmik, Bangladesh Rubber Board Chairman Syeda Sarwar Jahan, Bangladesh Forest Industries Development Corporation Chairman Md Shahidul Islam, Director General of Department of  Environment Dr. Abdul Hamid, Chief Conservator of Forests Md. Amir Hossain Chowdhury also spoke among others.

The Environment Minister said that during the imprisonment of Bangabandhu, Bangmata took the lead of the family and the party and kept in close contact with the people.  He used to bring all instructions of Bangabandhu from prison to Awami League and Chhatra League.  Again, he used to inform Bangabandhu about all the events of the movement at the jail gate.  Begum Mujib's firm stand against Bangabandhu's release on parole especially in the Agartala conspiracy case accelerated the Bengali liberation struggle, which will be written in golden letters in the history of Bangladesh's freedom struggle.

The Forest Minister said, this brave warrior with a self-confident, incomparable personality was exemplary to all.  He was the companion and helper of the Father of the Nation in all his works.  His love for the people was unconditional and genuine.  And so she became the mother of the Bengali nation.  On the eve of the historic March 7 speech, he advised Bangabandhu to speak independently from his own struggle life experience. 

Bangamata has become a shining star in the history of independence due to her intelligence, foresight and realistic assessment of politics and well-thought-out decisions.  The Environment Minister said that if the true history of independent Bengal and the War of Independence is to be written, the name of Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatun Nesha should be written next to Bangabandhu.  Bangmata Sheikh Fazilatun Necha Mujib will always be a bright star with humble respect and love.  As a sign of respect to Bangmata, the Environment Minister called upon everyone to work from their respective positions to build the Sonar Bangla of his dream.

After the discussion, a prayer ceremony was held in the mosque of the Forest Department. During this time, the officials of the ministry and all the departments/organizations under it were connected online.
