Bangabandhu National Gold Cup Football held in Sadar upazila

The final match of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman National Gold Cup Football Tournament U-17 held at Sheikh Russell Mini Stadium at Tulshighat of Sadar upazila of the district yesterday afternoon amid much festivity, report BSS.

Sadar Upazila Krira Sangstha (SUKS) arranged the tournament. The match was held between Kuptala union and Ghagoa union of the upazila.

In the match, Kuptala union defeated Ghagoa union by 2-0 goals, said general secretary of SUKS freedom fighter Mujibur Rahman.

Prize distribution function was held with Sadar UNO Uttam Kumar Roy who is the president of SUKS in the chair.

Whip of the Jatiya Sangshad and local lawmaker Mahabub Ara Begum Gini addressed the function as the 

chief guest.

Deputy commissioner Abdul Matin, police super Muhammad Towhidul Islam, civil surgeon Dr. ABM Abu Hanif, mayor of Gaibandha Municipality Advocate Shah Masud Zahangir Kabir Milon, Sadar upazila parishad chairman Shah Sarwar Kabir, presidentof Sadar upazila Awami League Rezaul Karim Reza were present at the event as the special guests.

Speaking on the occasion whip Mahabub Ara Begum Gini said all sorts of sports including football are very essential for physical and mental development of the children.

The government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina took initiatives to hold different sports for the children to help make them physically fit, she also said.

Then, whip Mahabub Ara Begum Gini formally distributed the gold cup to the winners.

A large number of people from all walks of life attended the function.
