Bangabandhu Cup Golf Open kicks off

The Bangabandhu Cup Golf Open 2022, one of the Asian Tour’s emerging tournaments, started at Kurmitola Golf Club (KGC) in the capital on Thursday. 

Bangladesh Golf Federation has organised the international tournament on November 23-27 sponsored by National Bank Limited. 

The tee-off was witnessed, among others, by Senior Vice President of Bangladesh Golf Federation Major General Md Zahirul Islam, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Sikder Group SQ Islam Mohon, and Advisor to Sikder Group Tournament Committee Farid Uddin Khan Rumy. 

Apart from host Bangladesh, 120 pro-golfers from 23 countries are participating in the tournament. It will conclude on November 27 with the distribution of prizes among the winners. 

Chief of Army Staff and President of Bangladesh Golf Federation General S M Shafiuddin Ahmed, and Director of National Bank and Chairman of R&R Aviation Ltd, R&R Holdings Ltd and PowerPac Holdings Ltd (Sikder Group) Rick Haque Sikder unveiled the logo and trophy of the Bangabandhu Cup Golf Open on Tuesday evening. 

The first Bangabandhu Cup Golf Open was organised back in 2019. But due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the tournament could not be organised in 2020 and 2021.
