Anti-Terrorism Unit, the specialized unit of Bangladesh Police arrested a top listed leader of banned terrorist outfit Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) t from Putiakhali on early Monday. Talking to the Bangladesh, Additional Deputy Inspector General Md Moniruzzaman confirmed it.
He said the arrested militant was identified as Belal Miah, son of Nurul Alam Moazzem, hailing from Khagrachori district. He was lift term convicted in the 17 Agust countrywide series bomb attack cases. After the incident, he went on hiding. He hided himself at different parts of the capital including Dhaka city, city’s outkrist Savar and Narayanganj.
He made fake birth registration certificate to dodge the law enforcers. Changing his real name, he joined as construction worker at a site in Kuyakata of Patuakhali district. ATU was keeping strict surveillances against all convicted and absconding militants. As part of their surveillances, ATU was trying to arrest him. Getting secret information, a team of ATU raided in Patuakhali district and finally nabbed him.
Responding to a question, ATU operation boss Adl DIG Moniruzzaman said, “ We are trying to verify his current position by interrogating him.” Process was going on to take legal steps against the terrorists.
