Attorney General Mahbubey Alam was shifted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka on Friday. He was admitted to the CMH on September 4 after becoming coronavirus positive. His son Sumon Mahbub told Bangladesh Post that he has been shifted to ICU early on Friday morning after his pulse rate increased.
His oxygen saturation level was also dwindling. “But under oxygen therapy, the level stays within the normal range,” Mahbub said, urging all to pray for his father’s quick recovery.
Seventy-one-year old Alam has been serving as the Bangladesh’s chief legal officer since 2009 when the Awami League returned to power for the second term after seven years.
He was also the President of the Supreme Court Bar Association.
