Jhenaidah office of ASA, a leading NGO, has started distributing food items among the poor and stranded jobless people, especially, women in the district. They had handed over 500 sachets of the food items to Deputy Commissioner (DC) as a part of their district-wise programme on Wednesday.
Jhenaidah district manager (DM) of the organization Ezaz Hossain said they had handed over the sachets containing rice, pulse, edible oil, potato, salt, vermicelli, soap and some essential items among the poor people. Some 300 sachets were distributed among the listed poor at Jhenidah DC court premises.
The food items distribution programme was inaugurated by DC of Jhenaidah Saroj Kumar Nath. Additional deputy commissioner (ADC) Seim Reza, ASA Kushtia divisional manager Uttam Kumar Bhowmik, additional divisional manager Emnamul Haque, regional manager Kazi Fazlul Haque, regional manager at Garaganj Abdur Rauf and branch managers among others were present.
ASA sources said they maintained social distance during the food items distribution activities and advised the receivers to maintain cleanness to avoid deadly corona virus wherever they stay.
Another 1,200 sachets of the food items were also handed over to the upazila nirbahi officers (UNOs) for distributing the same among the poor in their respective areas, sources said.
