Artisans busy sculpting Durga idols in Bogura

The works of shaping the statues of goddess Durga is complete and now the artisans of Bogura are busy to give the final touch of beautifying and decorating those statues. 

'Sarodio Durga Puja' the largest religious festival for Hindu (Sonatan) people is going to start at the end of next week. All are set to make this festival successful in the district. 

According to Bogura district administration sources, Durga puja is going to be held at 677 Puja Mandaps ( places for setting up statues) in 12 upazilas of the district.  District administration has taken up all necessary steps to hold this religious festival in a peaceful environment. Government allocation of rice for the organisers of the festival has also been completed. 

According to police administration of Bogura, the security measure has been beefed up by designing security arrangement in various phases to ensure all out security at the Puja Mandap areas.  Special security measures have also been taken up for the vulnerable Puja Mandaps.  CC TVs will also be set up in important Puja Mandaps, the sources mentioned.

Among the total Puja Mandaps, 118 have been set up at Bogura sadar, 51 at Shibgaj, 45 at Sonatola, 71 at Gabtoli, 24 at Sariakandi, 40 at Kahaloo, 38 at Dupchanchia, 70 at Adamdighi, 41 at Dhunat, 46 at Nandigram, 49 at Shahjahanpur and 84 at Sherpur upazilas.

Oranisers of Puja Udjapon Parisad in Bogura informed, last year Puja was observed through 664 Puja Mandaps in the district but the number has increased to 677 this year. 

Azahar Ali Mondal, Relief Officer of Disaster Management department of  Bogura informed,  preparations were going on to arrange Durga puja in various places of the district peacefully. The government granted rice will be sent to the organisers of those Pujas as soon as possible. 

Additional Superintendent of Police of Bogura Sonatan Chakravarty informed that to ensure security of the Puja Mandaps, Ansar and volunteers will be deployed from Puja Udajar Parishad in addition to police. 

Moreover, members of RAB and police will make regular partolling at the vulneral sites.
