Army chief calls on Central African Republic President

Chief of Army Staff General Aziz Ahmed paid a courtesy call on President of the Central African Republic (CAR) Professor Faustin Archange Touadera in mission areas on Thursday, reports BSS. During the meeting, the Chief of Army Staff conveyed the greetings of Bangladeshi President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to the CAR President Faustin, said an ISPR press release here.

About the response of the call of the United Nations and international community, President Faustin thanked Bangladesh for sending its peacekeepers to his country, it added. Aziz Ahmed gave assurance of sending more medical and engineering units to the Central African Republic. The army chief also said his country would provide long-term support to the people of the CAR.

Later, Aziz Ahmed was given a guard of honor after reaching the Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) Force headquarters. During this time, he also called on MINUSCA Special Representative of the Secretary-General Mankeur Ndiaye as well as its Force Commander Lieutenant General Balla Keita.
