Anti-graft drives to continue to establish g-governance: Asaduzzaman

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on Friday said the ongoing drives against corruption will continue to establish good governance in the country, reports BSS.

“There is no room for terrorism and militancy in the country,” he said while inaugurating a two-day Embassy Cup Football Tournament at Armed Police Battalion (APBn) Headquarters ground at Uttara in the city. The minister said police is investigating the Bhola incident and those who will be found involved with the incident will be brought to justice. Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Atiqul Islam, Bangladesh Football Federation General Secretary Abu Nayeem Sohag, Walton’s International Business Unit President Edward Kim and APBn Headquarters Additional Inspector General of Police Mosharraf Hossain were present on the occasion.

With the motto ‘Sports for Peace’, Ministry of Foreign Affairs is organising the second edition of the seven-a-side tournament. A total of 16 teams including 13 from the embassies of Australia, Bhutan, Iraq, South Korea, the Maldives, Norway, Pakistan, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Sweden, USA and Vietnam and three other teams are taking part in the tournament.

A team of the United Nations is taking part for the first time while Diplomat Police and Ministry of Foreign Affairs teams are participating as host teams. State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam and State Minister for Youth and Sports Md Zahid Ahsan Russel will attend the closing ceremony of the tournament tomorrow.
