Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen asked all Bangladesh envoys abroad to respond ‘spontaneously’ against all sorts of anti-Bangladesh propaganda in their respective host countries without waiting for Dhaka’s permission. He came up with this instruction while addressing the Heads of Bangladesh Missions abroad and senior officials virtually on Sunday. AK Abdul Momen also ordered them to highlight the government’s foreign policy priorities and guidelines to be pursued in this current year.

We appreciate our foreign ministry for taking such smart and time befitting decision that will help the Bangladesh envoys abroad to take instant measure against any anti-state propaganda. Bangladesh envoys abroad wait for Dhaka’s permission or approval to respond against anti-Bangladesh propaganda in their respective countries.

Staying abroad, some identified influential persons allegedly are plotting against the country and government as well. Like in the past, they have already stepped up their ill-efforts ahead of the next 12th parliamentary elections in order to overthrow the government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and install a dictator being imbued with the anti-liberation thought.

Our envoys must keep in mind

that the country’s foreign policy

is “friendship to all malice to none”

Envoys should take quick, effective and time-befitting action plans in a bid to respond against anti-Bangladesh propaganda alongside establishing deeper and broader relations with the foreign countries. To this end, they must present correct information about Bangladesh against all propaganda, rumour, fabrication and misinformation. Besides, they (Bangladesh envoys) will also have to take stern action against those, who are trying to mislead the foreign countries across the world.

Since these persons have no public support and faith in democracy, they always prefer such types of ‘backdoor policies’ through conspiracies with support from plotters at home and abroad ahead of every national elections of the country. The are now on tours in different foreign countries to make their conspiracies successful at any cost. But the country’s people do not believe in propaganda, instead they put their faith in the socioeconomic development efforts and achievement of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina-led government.

Our envoys must keep in mind that the country’s foreign policy is “friendship to all malice to none”. However, they will have to be more aware of a group of people who are spreading propaganda abroad even after so much development in the country. As the envoys are representing Bangladesh before the foreign countries, we hope they will respond spontaneously from now on. Simultaneously, our envoys abroad should highlight Bangladesh’s latest development.
