Another Moghbazar fire victim lost battle for life

Another victim of the devastating fire that broke out at a building in the capital’s Moghbazar died yesterday four days after battling for his life, rising the death toll to five, hospital sources said. The deceased was identified as Shahidul Kirmany Rony, who breathed his last while undergoing treatment at the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn And Plastic Surgery. Rony suffered from 43 percent inhalation burns, hospital’s physicians said.

He died day after his wife Jannatul Ferdous passed away at the hospital on Sunday. On February 27, three people, including the couple’s four-year-old son Rushdee and two others, were killed and the fire that originated from the garage of a five-storied building on Dilu Road of Moghbazar’s Eskaton.

A five-member committee headed by Abul Hosen, deputy director of the Fire Service and Civil Defence, was formed to probe the incident. The panel was asked to report in 15 days.
