Two C-130J transport aircraft of Bangladesh Air Force returned to BAF Base Bangabandhu, Dhaka from China on Sunday afternoon with six lac doses of Sinopharm vaccine and syringes to prevent coronavirus.

This was China's ‘gift’ to Bangladesh.

This second consignment came after the arrival of the first batch of 500,000 doses of the same vaccine.

It fully reflects that China attaches a great importance to the friendly relations between the two countries, the Chinese embassy in Dhaka earlier said.

Bangladesh is also in talks with China to produce a vaccine here in Dhaka as the government is exploring all options to inoculate over 13 crore people.

The vaccine campaign started in February with the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine bought from the Serum Institute of India.

Since March last year when the first cases were recorded, 13,118 people have died of Covid-19 in Bangladesh.
