Amanat Shah Fabrics gets LEED certification

Amanat Shah Fabrics Limited (ASFL), a readymade  garments factory, has been awarded as the first LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification in this year by the US Green Building Council (USGBC).

Amanat Shah Fabrics Ltd, located at Vatpara, Panchdona in Narsingdi got the gold certification with 68 out of 100 score, according to USGBC.

With this, Bangladesh has some 184 LEED-certified readymade garments factories which is a record in the world. Among them, 60 are platinum categories, 110 gold categories, 10 silver categories and four are green-certified readymade garments factories in Bangladesh now, according to the USGBC data. 

In May 2012, Bangladesh's Vintage Denim Studio was recognised as the first LEED platinum-certified factory in the world. The top seven green factories in the world are in Bangladesh.

LEED is the most widely used green building rating system in the world. Available for virtually all building types, LEED provides a framework for healthy, highly efficient and cost-saving green buildings.
