AL distributes 2,000 blankets allocated by PM for Rangpur

Rangpur district Awami League (AL) on Thursday completed distribution of 2,000 blankets, especially allocated by Prime Minister and AL President Sheikh Hasina, among cold-stricken people in the district, reports BSS.

The district, upazila and union units of AL distributed the blankets among the poor, distressed and disabled people of all eight upazilas of the district to mitigate their sufferings from the sweeping cold-wave. In Rangpur city, President of district AL Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed and its General Secretary Advocate Rezaul Karim Raju with other leaders distributed 400 blankets among the cold-hit people at district AL office premises this afternoon.

Vice-president of district AL Md. Joynal Abedin, its Joint General Secretary Motahar Hossain Mandal Mowla, Organising Secretary Touhidur Rahman Tutul, Publicity and Publication Secretary Latifa Shawkat, Office Secretary Amin Sarker, Information and Research Secretary Mizanur Rahman Tuhin and General Secretary of district Mohila Awami League Advocate Zakia Sultana Choite, President of district Chhatra League Mehedee Hasan Rony, among others, attended the function.

Besides, leaders of the district and city units of Awami League, Mohila Awami League, Jubo League, Chhatra League, Krishak League, Sramik League and other associate bodies were also present. Talking to BSS, Advocate Rezaul Karim Raju said the district and upazila units of AL already distributed huge number of blankets among the cod-affected poor and distressed people of Rangpur district.

“Considering severity of cold wave in the north, Prime Minister and AL President Sheikh Hasina specially allocated more 2,000 for Rangpur and like other seven districts of Rangpur division and we completed the distribution on the same today,” he said.
