AL always stands by poor, needy people: Taposh

Mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh today said that Awami League (AL) will always stand by the side of the poor and miserable people of the country, reports BSS.

“We will always stand by the side of the poor and miserable people as Awami League always works for the welfare of the people,” he said.

The mayor made the remarks virtually while joining the inaugural function of the distribution of relief items among the destitute people at the initiative of Akash Kumar Bhowmik, councilor of the 59th ward of the city.

Taposh added that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has provided financial assistance of Taka 2,500 to 36 lakh poor and distressed families each during the ongoing corona crisis.

Such cooperation is rare in the world, he said, adding that in continuation of this endeavor, AL will always stand by the side of the poor and distressed people by embracing the sentiments of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina towards the poor and miserable people and the ideals of the Father of the Nation.

Mentioning that Bangladesh is moving forward in this corona situation under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, he said as the government has taken various pragmatic steps, the aggression of Covid-19 in the country is slowly decreasing.

Bangladesh still has a comparatively better situation than other countries in the world, he added.

Ward-59 councilor Akash Kumar Bhowmik said relief materials would be distributed among 4,000 poor families and 3,000 party leaders and workers.

Each family will be provided 5 kg of rice, 1 kg of sugar, 1 kg of oil, half a kg of pulses, 200 grams of lachcha semai, half a kg of salt, 100 gms of power milk, a sari or a three-piece dress, a Punjabi and a lungi.

Awami League Dhaka South City Unit President Abu Ahmed Mannafi, General Secretary Humayun Kabir, Councilor of reserved women’s seat Shahida Begum and Awami League Dhaka South City Unit Science and Technology Affairs Secretary FM Shariful Islam Sharif were present, among others, on the occasion.
