The American International University, Bangladesh (AIUB) announced the introduction of professional mental health services for its students and staff on Monday , marking the World Mental Health Day.

To do that, the leading private university tied up with the wEvolve, a holistic organisation geared towards promoting, enabling, and improving mental health for all those who are struggling alone.

Nadia Anwar, Founder Member, Board of Trustees of AIUB, made the announcement while inaugurating the daylong celebration of the mental health day events including rally and awareness concert at the campus.

“In this day and age, when we deal with so many complexities even at a young age, seeking expert counseling when in need should no longer be a stigma and that is precisely the narrative that AIUB and wEvolve is attempting to change,” said a statement of the AIUB.

AIUB Vice Chancellor Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna, deans, associate deans, directors, department heads, faculties, student club members, and general students joined the rally and other programmes of the day.

The AIUB Arts Club (AAC) helped to arrange the colorful rally while the AIUB Performing Arts Club (APAC) helped in organising the concert.

Well-known musician Minar Rahman, an alumnus of AIUB’s Mass Communication and Media (MMC) Department, also performed for the crowd.

“Make mental health and wellbeing for all a global priority” is the theme of this year’s World Mental Health Day.
